High Gas Prices a Good Thing?

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has called on consumer countries to get used to high prices, in comments published on Tuesday:
“Consumer countries have to adapt to the prices and the mechanisms of the market.”
Hmmm, well maybe we won’t get used to it, and maybe we’ll change our behavior. High gas prices are as painful to me as anyone, but pain is a necessary catalyst for change. After all, the most sensitive part of a man’s anatomy is his wallet.
